"The ritual was to arrive at work half an hour early, so I could gradually wake up in the car listening to the radio, drinking coffee, and eating doughnuts." https://quillette.com/2020/08/02/my-life-pouring-concrete/

  1. What a great article how true in every aspect I’ve experienced it all Evey bit of it from top to bottom wouldn’t trade one minute of it for a desk job and the camaraderie the bond amongst men there is nothing like grinding it out for 10 hours getting in your truck and heading home . Ya I poured concrete a couple summers during college I’ve heard it all that means is you couldn’t handle working with men I mean real men the kind you would want with you in war. I’m 50 now and I know we all have a time card in this gig but I’m going to push mine to the limit even if it involves a few painkillers and limping through a job because there’s nothing like a good pour with good men
